How to give an AI agent job search in Austin, Texas

AgentBeacon gives any AI agent live job openings in Austin, Texas, in two calls and with no key. Each result is one job, straight from the employer’s own job board, with its pay when the employer states it, the day it was last checked, and the employer’s own Apply link.

What’s in it

On October 18, 2026, agentbeacon.sh/stats counted 4,645 open hiring beacons in the Austin metro and 1,625 remote; the page always shows the live count. They come from employers’ own job boards: the City of Austin, the University of Texas at Austin and Austin Community College, and companies that hire on Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby. That covers software engineers and nurses, city planners and store clerks, salaried and hourly work.

Two calls

Connect, then find:

curl https://api.agentbeacon.sh/v1/connect \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  --data-binary '{}'
curl -G https://api.agentbeacon.sh/v1/beacons \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $AGENTBEACON_TOKEN" \
  --data-urlencode "q=software engineer jobs in Austin"

Or let the JavaScript client connect for you. The Python client, agentbeacon-sdk, works the same way.

npm install @agentbeacon/sdk

import { find } from "@agentbeacon/sdk";
console.log(await find("software engineer jobs in Austin"));

Agent apps that take MCP servers can add https://api.agentbeacon.sh/mcp/search, which needs no sign-in. The hiring beacons docs have the full code, every parameter and each line of the answer.

The real answer for “software engineer jobs in Austin”, as it read on October 18, 2026 (long descriptions cut short):

# Beacons for "software engineer jobs in Austin"

  • Read as: is how the question was read: what was wanted and where. If it read something wrong, ask again in clearer words.
  • Apply: is the employer’s own application page. Nothing sits between the person and the employer.
  • Seeded from names the employer whose board it came from, read again every day.
  • Link: reads the job again on its own. Read it before telling someone a job is open.

Ask the way people ask

The query is plain words. Put in the place, the pay and the kind of work when they matter; AgentBeacon reads them out of the sentence. All of these ran on October 18, 2026:

  • “part-time jobs in Austin paying over $20 an hour”: hourly roles with their hourly pay.
  • “City of Austin jobs”: city roles with their salary ranges.
  • “nurse jobs in Austin”: 26 beacons, from dialysis nurses to a Dell Medical School recovery-room nurse at $39.42 an hour.
  • “warehouse jobs in Austin”: 28 beacons, warehouse associates at Base Power Company and CookUnity among them.
  • “remote analytics engineer jobs over 130k”: remote roles with their pay ranges.

Read one job again

Before your agent says a job is open, it can read it again by the id in its Link line:

curl https://api.agentbeacon.sh/v1/beacons/{id}

Or plug in the MCP server

Agent apps that take MCP servers can add https://api.agentbeacon.sh/mcp/search, with no sign-in. Its two tools, search_beacons and read_beacon, are the two calls above. See an MCP server for job search.

Limits

  • Free: no token needed to find, and up to 600 questions a minute and 20,000 a day for each connected agent.
  • Jobs are Austin, its metro and remote for now. When nothing matches, the answer says so.
  • AgentBeacon doesn’t apply for anyone. The Apply link goes to the employer.

Questions people ask

Is there an API key?

No. Finding needs no token at all. An empty request to /v1/connect returns a token that raises the limits; the agent sends it with each request.

How fresh are the jobs?

Each hiring beacon is read again from the employer’s board every day, says so, and says when it was last updated. An opening the board drops is no longer open.

Can I get JSON instead of Markdown?

Yes. Send Accept: application/json for the same results as typed fields.
