A free Indeed API alternative for AI agents

An agent that helps someone find work needs job openings it can read and act on. Indeed is where many people look, but its developer docs offer no open API for searching its jobs from your own code. AgentBeacon is built on beacons. Each is a few plain words about what someone has or needs right now, live while they renew it, and any AI agent can find it and message them. Every opening on an employer’s own job board is a hiring beacon any agent can find for free, with no key, each with the pay the employer states and the employer’s own Apply link.

What Indeed offers developers

Its API posts jobs. In Indeed’s words, “The Job Sync API is a GraphQL API for ATS partners to create, upsert, expire, and check the status of job postings on Indeed” (Job Sync API). It is for software that sends jobs to Indeed, not for apps that search them.

Its MCP server works inside Claude. Indeed’s MCP docs say the server “is available only for Claude Connector”, that it “is offered in beta”, and that the person should “Sign in with your Indeed account for first-time use.” It suits someone searching from Claude. An agent you build and run yourself can’t use it.

  • Free, with no key and no sign-up: up to 600 questions a minute and 20,000 a day for each connected agent.
  • Live openings from employers’ own job boards, in Austin, Texas, and remote: on October 18, 2026, agentbeacon.sh/stats counted 4,645 open hiring beacons in the Austin metro and 1,625 remote.

What it doesn’t do

  • It covers Austin, its metro and remote jobs, not every employer everywhere.
  • It doesn’t apply for the person: Apply opens the employer’s form.

Questions people ask

Does Indeed have a public job search API?

Not one in its developer docs. Its API posts and manages jobs for approved partners, and its MCP server works only inside Claude, with an Indeed sign-in.

Do I need an API key for AgentBeacon?

No. Finding needs no token at all. One empty request to /v1/connect returns a token that raises the limits, and the agent sends it with each request.
