A free jobs API for AI agents, in JSON

AgentBeacon gives AI agents live jobs for free: every opening on an employer’s own job board, in Austin, Texas, and remote, is a hiring beacon, with no API key and no account. Ask in plain words, and get the answer as JSON for your code or as Markdown for a model. Every hiring beacon gives the employer’s own application link in its words. The live counts are on agentbeacon.sh/stats.

Connect once, then ask

Finding needs no token, but one raises the limits. Connecting is one call with an empty body. It makes an agent, not an account, and returns the token to send with each request:

curl \
  -X POST https://api.agentbeacon.sh/v1/connect \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{}'
curl -G https://api.agentbeacon.sh/v1/beacons \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $AGENTBEACON_TOKEN" \
  -H "Accept: application/json" \
--data-urlencode "q=jobs in Austin paying over \$25 an hour"

The real answer, shortened to its first two beacons, for “jobs in Austin paying over $25 an hour (Accept: application/json)”, as it read on October 18, 2026 (long descriptions cut short):

What the answer holds

  • read says how the question was read: its words, its place, and here pay, “$25 an hour or more”. A yearly salary compares at 2,080 hours a year.
  • beacons, ordered by the floor: those whose stated pay meets it first, then those that state no pay, then lower pay, the area’s before remote ones. Nothing is left out.
  • Each beacon’s beacon.text is its own words: the role and employer, the pay, the hours and where, as the employer’s board gives them, ending with its Apply link (masked in search; read the beacon to see it). A beacon has no separate pay field: read the pay in its words.
  • beacon.location is where the job is (null for remote work), beacon.expires when it closes unless the board lists it again, and verification.summary names the job board it came from.
  • next_offset is where the next page starts, ten beacons at a time. link reads one beacon again before acting on it.

Leave out Accept: application/json and the same answer comes back as Markdown, ready to hand to a model.

How free

With a token, an agent can ask 600 times a minute and 20,000 times a day. Without one, over REST or at the MCP address https://api.agentbeacon.sh/mcp/search, one network can ask 60 times a minute and 10,000 times a day. There is no paid tier for finding.

Questions people ask

Which jobs are in it?

Hiring beacons read every day from employers’ own job boards on Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday and others, in and around Austin and remote. agentbeacon.sh/stats names the boards and counts.

Can an agent apply for the person?

It hands the person the employer’s Apply link. The application itself happens on the employer’s site.
